Tom Yantis began working with the City of Taylor in September, 2018. As the Director of Development Services, Mr. Yantis Mr. Yantis is responsible for the oversight of building inspection, code enforcement, current and long-range planning, the Main Street Program, demographic monitoring and geographic information systems (GIS), assisting with housing and community redevelopment efforts, assisting with economic development projects, and the Moody Museum. 


Mr. Yantis holds a Master of Science in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin and brings more than 20 years of experience to the position, most recently as the Assistant City Manager and Director of Development Services for the City of Leander. Prior to working with the City of Leander, he served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District. He also has held various positions for the City of Georgetown and worked as a consultant for various consulting firms that work with Texas municipalities. Mr. Yantis has been an active participant in multiple professional organizations, serving on multiple committees for the Texas City Management Association and attaining his certificate from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) of the American Planning Association. He has also served on the Congress for the New Urbanism and the National Town Builders Association.
