    Taylor Parks & Recreation is hosting free adult fitness classes the first 2 weeks of September from 9/5 - 9/16. 

    All classes will be in the air-conditioned Memorial Fieldhouse at the Parks & Recreation office at 1412 Davis Street. The only exception is the track training and croquet, which will be at Memorial Field outside the Fieldhouse.

    After the free promo, each class will be $5 starting September 18th. Bulk discount of 10 classes for $40.

  9. Class Descriptions

    Croquet: Recreational activity that involves hitting wooden balls with a mallet through hoops called "wickets". We will play on the grass at Memorial Field.

    Zumba: An interval-style dance fitness party that combines low-intensity and high-intensity moves. Move to the rhythm with Latin-inspired dance moves. 

    Yoga: A practice that connects the body, breath, and mind. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve overall health. Yoga was developed as a spiritual practice thousands of years ago. Today, most Westerners who do yoga do it for exercise or to reduce stress

    Track Training: This run and walk program on the Memorial Field Track is designed to improve your technique and prepare your for a future 5K. 

    • October 14 - Good Life 5K
    • November 4 - Veterans 5K Beer Run
    • January 21 - Run for the Roses 5/10K

    Pilates: A type of exercise in which you perform a series of controlled movements that flow into one another with precision. Focuses more on improving muscle tone than building muscles, but the result is similar: greater stability and endurance.

    Drum Fit: This is a choreographed class where participants use drum sticks during this energetic workout which targets the full body! Participants will increase their range of motion while building muscle, increasing blood flow, and improving flexibility. 

    Tai Chi: This is a practice involving a series of slow gentle movements and physical postures, a meditative state of mind, and controlled breathing. 

    Senior Fit: A stretching class for seniors focusing on range of motion, strength training, balance work, agility, cardio, and fun!
