TAYLOR, TEXAS – The Main Street Advisory Board and Public Arts Advisory Board are excited to announce Music on Main, a concert series that will be held in conjunction with the Main Street Third Thursday event, starting July 15 at the Heritage Square Amphitheater. Two additional concerts are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 19, and Thursday, Sept. 16. The events will be held from 7-9 p.m.
The Music on Main series will showcase talented local musical performing groups. The Marshall Hood Band will be the featured act for the inaugural concert on July 15. Lead vocalist and guitarist Marshall Hood has previously accompanied Austin singer Toni Price during her residency at the Continental Club, and toured with the Belleville Outfit, which included festivals like Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, and Merle Fest. He has recorded and released two independent albums and picked up a nomination from the Americana Music Association for Best New/Emerging Artist. Acts for the August and September shows will be announced at a later date.
“This is an exciting opportunity not only for Taylor residents but also for Taylor’s Main Street,” said Jan Harris, City of Taylor Main Street Manager. “The Public Arts Advisory Board seeks to support and encourage the arts in Taylor which includes both the visual and the performing arts. This partnership with the Main Street Advisory Board emphasizes their shared vision of a thriving local community which welcomes the energy and vibrancy of the creative class. I look for this Music on Main concert series to be the first of many collaborative efforts between these two energetic and innovative boards.”
Ms. Harris said she hopes that if this initial concert series is successful, Music on Main can grow into a year around event with additional opportunities for vendors and other fun activities.
The event is free and family friendly. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets, chairs, and picnics to enjoy the show in the park.
