The City Council of the City of Taylor met in Executive Session on February 20, 2009 at City Hall, 400 Porter St. , Taylor, Texas.  Mayor Hortenstine declared a quorum and called the meeting to order at 7:50 am with the following present:

 

Mayor Pro Tem Ella Pumphrey Jez                    

Council Member Bernabe Gonzales                   

Council Member Don Hill                                  

Council Member John McDonald                      

REGULAR AGENDA – REVIEW/DISCUSS & CONSIDER/ACTION:

1.      EXECUTIVE SESSION. 
The Taylor City Council will hold a closed executive meeting pursuant to the provisions of the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Government Code, in accordance with the authority contained in Section 551.074 to discuss the City Manager’s position.  
 
Mayor Hortenstine adjourned Council into closed session at 7:50 am.

2.      CONSIDER ACTION FROM EXECUTIVE SESSION.
Mayor Hortenstine reconvened Council into open session at 2:15 p.m. and entertained a motion.  Council Member Benito Gonzales moved to hire Jim Dunaway as City Manager at a base pay of $105,000 and that he be allowed 6 months to relocate to the city.  If Mr. Dunaway is unable to sell his home within those 6 months City Council will revisit the issue to determine if more time is needed.  This appointment is effective March 2 and Mr. Dunaway’s first evaluation will be in six months.  The motion was seconded by Council Member John McDonald.  VOTE:  Five voted AYE.  Motion passed. 

ADJOURN
