The City Council of the City of
Taylor met on August 21, 2007 at City Hall, 400 Porter St., Taylor, Texas. Mayor Benito Gonzales declared a quorum and called the meeting to order at 6:10
p.m. with the following present:
Council Member Ella Jez Frank
Salvato, City Manager
Council Member John McDonald Assistant City Manager, Jim Dunaway
Clerk, Susan Brock
CONDUCT FIRST PUBLIC HEARING ON 2007/2008 AD VALOREM TAX RATE
AND 2007-2008 BUDGET.
a) Ordinance 2007-23 fixing and levying Ad Valorem tax rate for tax year
b) Ordinance 2007-24 adopting the 2007-2008 annual budget excluding
“Contributions to Civic Programs”
c) “Contributions to Civic Programs” from Ordinance 2007-24.
As required by law, the following statement was included on the posted agenda
NOTE: This budget will raise more total
property taxes than last year’s budget by $308,321 or 6.1% and of that amount $206,167
is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the roll this year.
No new information was discussed regarding these items. Mayor Gonzales
declared the Public Hearing open and invited those present to come forward. Mr.
Johnny Sanford was present and stated he had no comment regarding the tax rate
or budget but wished to express his thoughts that the City Council is doing a
good job. With no other public comment, Mayor Gonzales declared the Public

Council will vote on the tax rate at a meeting to be held on September 6, 2007
at 6:00 pm, at City Hall.
Mayor Gonzales announced the date, time and
place of the meeting to vote on the tax rate.
With no further business, Mayor Gonzales adjourned the meeting at 6:12 p.m.
