REGULAR AGENDA – REVIEW/DISCUSS & CONSIDER/ACTION:

1.  INTRODUCE ORDINANCE 2006-15 EXTENDING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF TAYLOR, TEXAS AND THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 1,111.81 ACRES OF LAND LOCATED IN WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS, BEING 618.92 ACRES SITUATED IN THE JAMES C. EAVES SURVEY ABSTRACT NO. 213, AND 492.89 ACRES SITUATED IN THE SAMUEL PHARRASS SURVEY, ABSTRACT NO. 496.
Mr. Salvato reported the city has received a document from Ms. Dorothy Fischer with questions about property previously owned by Hugo Byer being located in Taylor’s Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ).   Mr. Salvato explained that Ms. Fischer took ownership of the property approximately two months ago and that she and the City of Hutto were advised that the entire property is currently located in the Taylor ETJ.

Mayor Gonzales asked for public comments.  Bobby Naiver, Mark Groba and Billy “Butch” Turner spoke individually in opposition to the annexation with the primary message being that the streets in Taylor need attention more than the annexation is needed.  Council Member Jez asked Mr. Salvato how many miles of city streets have been repaired in Taylor.  Mr. Salvato explained the process of the Street Maintenance Program and how this problem has been handled since his arrival and provided an update on future street improvements.

City Attorney Hejl read the caption to Ordinance 2006-15.  With no further comments or discussion Mayor Gonzales declared Ordinance 2006-15 officially introduced.  (The final vote to approve the Ordinance is scheduled for July 13, 2006.)
