The City Council of the City of
Taylor met on June 8, 2006, at City Hall, 400 Porter St., Taylor, Texas. Mayor Benito Gonzales declared a quorum and called the meeting to order at 5:30
p.m. with the following present:

Council Member Rod Hortenstine Assistant City Manager, Jim Dunaway

Clerk, Susan Brock
REGULAR AGENDA – REVIEW/DISCUSS & CONSIDER/ACTION:
PUBLIC HEARING FOR PHASE I ANNEXATION OF 1,111.81 ACRES OF LAND LOCATED IN WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS, BEING 618.92 ACRES SITUATED IN THE JAMES C. EAVES SURVEY ABSTRACT
NO. 213 AND 492.89 ACRES SITUATED IN THE SAMUEL PHARASS SURVEY, ABSTRACT NO.
Mr. Bob VanTil presented a brief background and description of the
annexation process. He stated the property to be annexed was selected as a
result of the Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan previously adopted by
Council. Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open and asked for comments
from the audience.
Mr. Mark Groba of Houston came forward and presented a Petition to the City
Clerk stating his opposition to the annexation of property he owns within the
Phase I plan. Mr. Bobby Naivar also came forward to express his opposition to
the annexation of his property in the Phase I plan.
Mr. Salvato responded to a number of comments and concerns brought up by both
Mr. Grober and Mr. Naivar regarding the actual effect annexation will have on
their properties as well as the responsibility for maintenance of any county
roads within the newly annexed area.
With no further public comment or further discussion from Council, Mayor
Gonzales declared the Public Hearing closed and the meeting was adjourned at 5:58
