Residents and those traveling through the city now have a much improved surface to drive on. As part of the road bond funds from Williamson County, Second Street underwent a $16 million dollar upgrade. The project included all of Second Street from just inside the loop on the west side all the way east to Main Street.
The project was designed in 2 phases. Phase I consists of replacing old drainage and water pipes as well as adding new drainage features south of Second Street to alleviate existing flooding issues.
Phase II included paving the street and construction of curbs and sidewalks on Second Street.
