How do I volunteer to be on a City Board?
The City Council appoints members to all City Boards and Commissions as members terms expire. Each committee has a number of appointments. For more information on current vacancies,
contact the City Clerk.

How do I get a copy of an ordinance or any other city document?
The City Clerk is responsible for providing access to city documents through the Open Records Act. Many of the Ordinances are available on this website. Contact Susan Brock, City Clerk, at 352-3676 or susan.brock@ci.taylor.tx.us for more information.

How often does the City have an election?
The City follows the General Election calendar and rules for the State and County. Council member's serve three year terms that are staggered with most Municipal General Elections held in May.

How do I apply for a job with the City?
Job openings are posted on the website, the bulletin board at City Hall, and advertised in the Taylor Daily Press and Austin American Statesman. Applications are only accepted for open positions and may be picked up at the Receptionist Desk at City Hall or can be found on the website. Where are the fire stations located in town?
The City of Taylor currently has two fire stations in operation: the new Central Station on the corner of 2nd St and Washburn, and the Northwest Station on Carlos G. Parker Blvd. Fire Department Administration is located at 304 E. 3rd Street. For non emergencies, contact Administration at 352-6992.

When do I change my smoke detector batteries?
The best time is when the clocks move up or back (Daylight Savings Time). Just remember "Change your Clock, Change your Battery!"

Can I have a garage sale in my yard?
City Ordinance allows each residence to have one garage sale per quarter (no more than four times a year). Signs are only allowed on property where the sale is being held. No permit is required.

How do I contact the Animal Control Officer for loose or lost animals?
Tom Waggoner is the City Animal Control Officer and can be reached through the Non-Emergency Police Dispatch office at 352-5551.

Where do I pay my property taxes?
The City of Taylor and the Taylor Independent School District contract with the Williamson County Tax Assessor to collect taxes at the local tax service center located at 412 Vance Street. They can be reached by phone at 352-4140 or on their website: http://www.wilco.org/tax_assessor

Is there a map of the City Limits with the Extraterritorial jurisdiction?

How do I get a Library card?
Come to the Library and present a current picture ID and proof of current residence, like a valid driver's license. If you live in Taylor city limits, there is no charge for a card. If you live outside of Taylor, there is a $10 per year charge. For more questions about proof of residence or ID, call the Library at 512-352-3434.

How much are overdue fines?
Overdues are .10 cents a day per item. Fines accrue for each item for each calendar day. Overdue fines cap at $5 per item.
3.
How can I renew my library materials?
You can renew your materials in person, or by phone (512-352-3434) or by e-mail (bookrenew@ci.taylor.tx.us). You can renew an item up to 4 times, as long as no one has a reserve on the item.

How do I renew my drivers license?
You may renew your drivers license in person at the Texas Department of Public Safety office at 4th and Vance Streets in Taylor. You may also renew your drivers license online on
the DPS website.

How do I learn of registered sex offenders in a community in Texas?
You may determine the presence of registered sex offenders in any area in Texas by utilize the
Texas DPS
Sex Offender Database.

Is there a way for me to register my vehicle online instead of going to my local tax office?
Yes! You may renew the registration of your vehicle using the
TxDOT Vehicle Registration Renewal Servlet.

When will the street sweeper be in my area?
The sweeper takes approx 1 1/2 to 3 weeks to get back to your area once it has been there. FOr more information call the Street Department at 352-5818.

Who do I contact about a missing or damaged cart
For missed pick ups or damaged carts please contact the City's Public Works Department at 512-352-2066.

How do I dispose of brush?
The City no longer has a chipping service. However, the garbage provider, IESI, will pick up bundled brush at the curb each week on your regular garbage pick up day. For piles of unbundled brush, contact IESI for free estimates at 800-581-5825. Brush may also be taken to the Williamson County Landfill in Hutto located at 600 Landfill Road on FM 1660. For information on fees and hours of operation contact the Landfill at 512-759-8881.
3.
How do I report a water emergency after hours?
Call 512-352-3251 for assistance for water or street emergencies after 5pm weekdays and all day on the weekends. Your call will be answered by Police Dispatch who will contact the Public Works staff on call.
