TAYLOR, Texas – The City of Taylor is pleased to welcome Jan Harris as the new Main Street Manager. Ms. Harris is a National Certified Main Street Manager and brings with her 21 years of experience. She began her duties with the City on November 4.
Ms. Harris previously worked as the Main Street Program Executive Director for the City of Dahlonega in Georgia. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University and a Master of Historic Preservation degree from the University of Georgia. She also obtained a certificate in Professional Main Street Management in 2001.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be here,” Ms. Harris said, “Everybody is so friendly and the town is gorgeous. The mural downtown is so right, Taylor really is as ‘friendly as a Texan’s smile’.”
Ms. Harris will work for the City’s Development Services Department. She will be responsible for running the Main Street Program, whose vision is to establish a resilient downtown community in Taylor, diverse in experiences for local residents and visitors that includes retail, dining, parks, and cultural history.
“I will be living in downtown Taylor. That’s always been a bucket list item for me, to live and work downtown, and now I will be able to check that off my list,” Ms. Harris said. “This is an amazing opportunity.”
