TAYLOR, Texas – The Taylor Police Department is still seeking assistance from the public in solving the August 26, 2004 murder of Katara Johnson.
As the 15th anniversary of the murder approaches, Taylor Police Chief Henry Fluck stated, "We strongly believe that someone in our community has information that could lead to the arrest of the murder suspect." The case is being reviewed by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department Cold Case Unit, and this week Crime Stoppers increased the reward to $5,000.00 for information that would lead to an arrest of the murder suspect. Katara Johnson was 21 years old when her body was discovered in her home the evening of August 26, 2004, leading to an investigation by the Taylor Police Department, the Texas Rangers, the Texas Department of Public Safety Mobile Crime Lab, and the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
