The City of Taylor Historic Preservation Task Force presented an Ordinance Establishing Historical Resource and Neighborhood Preservation at the Taylor City Council meeting on October 25, 2018. The Task Force, which was appointed by City Council in 2017, recruited community members with diverse backgrounds, researched standards, guidelines, processes and outcomes, and hosted six community wide meetings to create the proposed Preservation Ordinance.
If passed by City Council, the Ordinance will protect, enhance and perpetuate Historical Resources and Neighborhoods identified in the document that represent significant elements of city architectural, archeological, cultural, ethnic and political history. It will also safeguard historical resources identified in the ordinance through appropriate regulations.
