TAYLOR, Texas – Because of an increase in participation in the City of Taylor Recycling Program, the City is expanding the program with Waste Connections of Texas, the City’s waste service provider. Now, instead of only having a recycling truck in the City every other week, there will be a truck in the City every week. This will allow Waste Connections to serve a larger number of households each week. To accommodate the new schedule, some residents will have a different recycling service week than they have had in the past.
Some areas of the City will change their recycling pickup schedules, and some will remain the same. To help residents understand the new schedule, Waste Connections will include notices in upcoming utility bills and also notify residents individually of the new schedule. The company will mail postcards to allresidents beginning the week of October 1 with detailed information about the new recycling schedules, and will also place tags on the recycling carts. The official week change will take effect October 15.
Public Works Director Jim Gray said that the City was pleasantly surprised by the popularity of the recycling program. “When we started the program with Waste Connections we were not sure how well it would be received—new programs are often difficult to get off the ground. But people have really embraced recycling in the City of Taylor, and we are really happy to expand the program with Waste Connections to help meet that increased demand. It’s important for the community and a really good way to conserve our resources long term.”
A map depicting the affected areas by the week change is available on the City of Taylor’s website, www.taylortx.gov. Residents who have questions can call 512-352-2066 for additional information.
