City Manager Isaac Turner to Retire in January, 2019

TAYLOR, Texas –City Manager Isaac Turner has announced his intention to retire as City Manager effective January 25, 2019. Turner has served as the City Manager of Taylor since August 25, 2014.

Turner has a combined 35 years of experience in municipal government with 18 years as a city manager. Prior to coming to Taylor, he served as the City Manager for Venice, Florida.

Turner has had a productive tenure with the City, working with Council and City staff to improve efficiency, decrease the tax rate, improve the City’s infrastructure, and sharpen the City’s image. Turner has placed a strong emphasis on economic and residential development and has encouraged programs that will place the City of Taylor in a stronger competitive position for companies seeking a location to start a business, relocate, or expand.

Turner said, “I have worked in City Management for many years, and it is time for me to retire and enjoy some time with my family. But I have really enjoyed working with the City of Taylor and it has been a pleasure to watch the City begin to grow and develop in the four plus years that I have been here. While I am very much looking forward to my retirement, I will miss working with the City Staff, Council, other governmental agencies, community organizations and citizens and I will remember my time here fondly.”

City Council will announce plans for hiring a new City Manager in the coming weeks. For information about Mr. Turner, his retirement, or the City of Taylor, please contact the Communications Department at 512-352-5448.
