SGR, a Texas company that specializes in executive searches, has been retained to conduct searches for three executive vacancies at the City of Taylor. The search and filling of the positions are expected to take four to six months, according to Taylor Human Resources Director Kim Peterson.
The department heads who have resigned are Development Services Director Ashley Lumpkin and Parks and Recreation Director Mike DeVito, who has taken a job as the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director at the City of Cedar Park. City Clerk Susan Brock, who has been with the City of Taylor for 15 years, announced she will retire after the City Election in May.
In the interim, the City is using internal resources to fill these important functions. Tamera Baird, Building Official, and Michael Elabarger, Senior Planner, will step in to handle the duties of Development Services. Assistant City Manager Jeffery Jenkins and Parks and Recreation Crew Leader Casey Cunningham will fill in to cover the Parks and Recreation Director tasks. No interim assignments have been made to fill the City Clerk’s role at this time, according to City Manager Isaac Turner.
“We are very appreciative for the services provided to the Taylor community by each of these professionals.” Turner said. “With the interim plans we have in place, we expect things will run smoothly until permanent replacements are found.”
