Drivers, pay attention. Taylor City Council approved on second reading at its Thursday, July 27th meeting a reduced speed limit on Highway 95, known as Main Street, between Second and Pecan streets. Effective immediately, the speed limit in both directions is now 30 mph where it had previously been 40 mph heading northbound into downtown.

The Texas Department of Transportation Operations Division approved the change prior to council voting on City Ordinance 2017-14.

With the passing of the ordinance, supported by the Taylor Police Department, the speed limit is the same going both directions. Violators caught speeding are subject to the maximum of a $200 fine.
