Become a Volunteer

Victim Service Volunteers are caring individuals willing to share their time, knowledge and insights in order to assist those touched by tragedy.  Caring citizens of the community are trained to assist and lessen the staff's after hours call-out load.  The Victim Services Volunteers serve weekday evenings and on weekends, and carry an on-call cell phone.  They are ready to respond, as needed to various calls.

As a Victim Service Volunteer, you will have an opportunity to develop a rapport with victims of family/domestic assault, sexual assault and child abuse in order to provide emotional support and guidance following an incident.  You may respond on scene, to a hospital, or be called to the Police Department to act as an advocate.  You may also accompany victims to court.

The Victim Service Volunteer position requires that you be empathetic, sincere, hardworking and dedicated to serving your community alongside sworn members of the Department.  You must be 18 years old or older, be available to respond within 45 minutes, and have your own transportation.  We also consider bilingual skills a big plus!

If you would like to be considered for a volunteer position, please contact Priscilla Moreno, Victim Services Coordinator, at 512-352-5551 ext. 2218, or by email
