Switzer Senior Center
The Switzer Senior Center is named after one of its staunch founders and long time Taylorite, Fred Switzer. The Center is located in the old 7th Street Taylor High / Middle School at the corner of West Ninth and Hackberry Street.

The Center also houses the Meals on Wheels program, a clothing bank offered by the Taylor Independent School District and Shepherd's Heart Food Pantry. The center offers instructional classes, health and wellness programs, educational seminars, workshops, trips, volunteer opportunities, support groups and a variety special events for persons 50 years or older.

The center also includes the Verna Hardwood Community Meeting Room and is available by reservation. Call 512-352-3889 or 512-352-3819 for more information and a calendar of events for each month.

Taylor Police Department Serving Our Seniors (S.O.S.) Program
  • Free service that only requires participants to have a telephone
  • Calls are made daily at pre-arranged times – if an issue is noted by dispatch, they will send a PD officer to the location

  • Program designed to prevent crime by reporting suspicious activity in your neighborhood

Neighborhood Center
  • Offers various types of aid from utility to rental assistance
  • Income eligibility guidelines must be met
  • Clients are seen by appointment only

Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry
  • Provides basic assistance with food, clothing, and emergency shelter.
  • Open Tues. – Fri., 1 – 3 p.m.
  • Open Saturdays from 9-10:30 a.m.
Meals on Wheels
  • Open to seniors 60 years old and above. Younger spouses may also qualify.
  • Congregate meals served at the center each weekday at noon.
