The Fleet Services Division is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance and repair of the city fleet vehicles and equipment. Services include scheduled and routine preventive maintenance, welding and fabrication, and general repair work.
Duties & Responsibilities
It is Fleet Services responsibility to:
Dispose of surplus vehicles and equipment through authorized auctions
Prepare & administer the annual fleet budget
Recommend and furnish functional, reliable & economical vehicles and equipment necessary for the conduct of City operations
Write the necessary specifications for bidding purposes
Typical repair work provided include, electrical repairs, engine tune-up, tire replacements, brake replacements, adjustments and other general maintenance work that may be necessary.
In addition Fleet Services coordinates the following external services: paint and body repair, heavy duty suspension service, and glass replacement.
At the present time, the City's fleet is comprised of approximately 150 vehicles and equipment consisting of automobiles, vans, pickups, dump trucks, backhoes, trenchers, loaders, sweepers, etc. to Fire Department pumpers, aerial ladders and Police Department marked and unmarked vehicles.
