The Taylor Old Town Streetscape Project was funded by a Statewide Transportation Enhancement (TEA 21) grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT).TXDOT awarded the construction bid to Knish Corporation in January, 2007.The $1.8 million project included the reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs to provide easier and safer access, improve crosswalks, and added period lighting to brighten up downtown Taylor.Efforts also included bringing facilities up to meet standards of the American with Disabilities Act.
The project was completed in July, 2008 under the watchful eye of Project Manager Casey Sledge, the consulting city engineer.
