In the Heart of The Blackland Prairie
The Main Street Program is a downtown revitalization within the context of historical preservation. The Taylor Main Street Programs support the redevelopment of the downtown area through historical preservation, education, economic development and heritage tourism.
We envision a culturally diverse and economically viable downtown which attracts both Taylor citizens and visitors to its unique mix of historic buildings, shops, restaurants, services and old town atmosphere.
The Downtown Rental/Purchase Assistance Program is available for those new businesses who need help getting started.
Easter Egg Hunt
The Taylor Main Street will host the city's annual Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Murphy Park located at 1600 Veterans Drive. Children will be divided into three age groups, 0-3, 4-7, and 8-12.
Blackland Prairie Days
Every spring, Taylor Main Street hosts Blackland Prairie Days on the first weekend in May. The festival is held in the heart of downtown and features horticultural speakers and demonstrations, arts and crafts vendors, food booths, children's activities and live entertainment. Blackland Prairie Days is a Taylor Made Texas signature event.
Main Street Car Show
Each fall, the Main Street Car Show attracts more than 300 vintage, historic and exotic cars, trucks, motorcycles and military vehicles to the streets of Downtown Taylor. This annual event offers a variety of vendors, entertainment, exquisite vehicles and family-friendly fun for all to enjoy. The Main Street Car Show is a Taylor Made Texas signature event.
The Downtown Taylor Swirl is an exciting evening to kick off the holiday season from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the first Friday of December. This fun event will be held in Historic Downtown Taylor, and typically includes tastings from 6-10 different wineries, food establishments, a tasting glass and wine bag. Food trucks and live music round out the night.
Main Street Christmas Fair
The Christmas Fair typically is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Hall, 400 Porter St. the first Saturday of December. Booths will be indoors in the City Hall Auditorium and outdoors in the parking lot. Food vendors will be on site. Fees for a booth are $50 for a 10'x10' space outside, and $75 for a 10'x10' space inside. Electricity is a $10 fee on a limited supply, first-come, first-served.
