Boards

  • Airport Advisory Board makes recommendations to the City Council about the operations of the municipal airport and helps ensure that the airport meets the needs of the City and the air industry. Meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Airport Pilot's Lounge, Taylor Municipal Airport.

  • Animal Control Appeals Board and Shelter Advisory Board is a five member group that serves as an appeals board as well as a Shelter Advisory group to assist the animal control officer in compliance with the Health and Safety Code. Meets at least three times a year or more if needed.

  • Building & Standards Commission provides final interpretations concerning alleged violations of ordinances by upholding or overturning decisions made by the building officials.  Members must be knowledgeable and experienced with the building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and fire codes adopted by the city. Only meet as needed.

  • Civil Service Commission is a three member commission appointed by the City Manager to adopt rules regarding hiring and promotional processes, the disciplinary process, maintenance of personnel files, and other subjects as defined by Civil Service Law.  Meets as needed.

  • Library Advisory Board makes recommendations to the City Council about the operations of the library and helps ensure that the Library meets the needs of the City. Meets the 3rd Tuesday at 6:00 pm (except during July and December).

  • Main Street Advisory Board develops an annual action plan for implementation of a downtown revitalization program focused on: design/historic preservation, promotion, organization/management, and economic restructuring/development. Meets 3rd Wednesday of the month at 4:30 pm, City Hall. Visit Taylor Main Street online.

  • Moody Museum Advisory Board oversees the operation of the Moody Museum and makes recommendations for museum use and collection policies, volunteer staffing, and promotion of the facility. Meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Museum located at 114 W. 9th St.

  • Parks & Recreation Board makes recommendations to the City Council regarding sports and recreational programs, and facilities and helps ensure that they meet present and future needs. Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm.

  • Planning & Zoning Commission approves or disapproves platting or re-platting of land into subdivisions within the corporate limits and within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the regulations of the use of land, location of buildings, and the locations of businesses, in respect to their environments. Meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm.

  • Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) promotes, assists, and enhances economic development activities for the City.

  • Taylor Housing Authority Board is legislated by the State to establish policy and review operations of subsidized housing in Taylor.  The Board is made up of five members who are appointed by the Mayor. 

  • Tree Advisory Board is a five member board with duties that include public education on tree care, review of recommended trees on city properties, and other city activities related to tree care.  Meets quarterly.

  • Zoning Board of Adjustments hears and decides special exceptions to the zoning ordinance and rules on appeals. This board is autonomous and meets the 1st Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm, as needed.
